Film Backstory
Producing is in my blood. Telling stories is what makes us interesting and allows us to evolve as human beings. I currently have a film out now, called "Ron Jeremy, Life After The Buffet", about Porn Legend, Ron Jeremy. I'm a veteran producer with Two Emmy's for my work as a Producer on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show". After working in Television for 25 years, I decided to take a camera, a crew and film people and subjects that were "taboo". Transgenders are part of that world.
"Glitter Girls" was inspired by my days booking Transsexuals on talk shows, such as the Montel Williams Show. I noticed that our ratings went up with these kind of segments, so there must have been a thirst by the viewers to learn more about these women. I call them women, because what I learned from them is that the genitals you were born with did not define how they felt in their hearts and souls. It's known as "gender dysphoria". These women were born as males, but they never felt like a man. They identify themselves as women and growing up knowing that something is off has made life very difficult for them. They have been called freaks, and other horrible names, and many have been disowned by their families. Some supress their womanly feelings and either lead lives as "straight" men, marrying, having children, and living a life of lies, just to fit into the norm of society.
After a while the burden of living in the shadow of your true identity becomes to much to bear, that many end up killing themselves. Others end up living in the street, sex work, prostitutes, sex slaves, and working in the Adult industry where they have been able to make a living.
In 2000 I was lucky to be taken in by a group of transgender women, most who have not gone through the full surgery. I met amazing ladies who took me in as a "friend". They allowed me to document their lives. Trust was so important because the Transgender community is so discriminated against. Gia Darling is the lead of the film. She is an Adult Film Actress, Transgender, back then still with penis in tact. She runs a multi million dollar Empire, called Gia Darling XXX. After the filming of this documentary, it had a few small screenings to rave reviews. But I'm not a sales person and didn't know how to sell it. So for the last 15 years it's been sitting in my closet. Until now.
Two years ago, I caught up with Gia Darling. She is now a full woman, married to a stunning man, living in the suburbs and driving a mini van. I will be releasing a sequel to Glitter Girls, called "The Gia Darling Story...a Transgenders Search for Herself" in 2016. The trailer for Glitter Girls, Transsexuals in the Raw has already recieved over 15,000 hits on YouTube, so it seems there is interest.
Glitter Girls will be released in the next few weeks, followed by the Gia Darling Story. Stay tuned for more updates .... Thank you. Hedda Muskat email: glittergirlsdoc@gmail.com
